Update: Custom Heat Mapping for Dragon Map Widget

Custom Heat Mapping for the Dragon Map Widget

This enhancement allows you to add personalized colors and thresholds to your heat maps, providing greater flexibility and control over how data is visualized for your customers.

Getting Started:

To access this new feature, navigate to the Map widget settings. Within the Heat Map Options section, you’ll find a choice between using the default core option or the new custom option.

Enabling the custom option will activate the Heat Map Custom Colors section and reset the Heat Map section.

Adding Custom Colors and Thresholds:

When you enable custom heat mapping, you can start adding custom colors and thresholds to tailor the heat map to your specific needs. Here’s a step-by-step guide:

1.       Add Entries First: Use the 'Add Heatmap and Color' button to add entries. It's recommended to add all desired entries before adjusting the sliders, as each new entry will auto-adjust the default slider values to be evenly spaced across 0-100.

2.       Modify or Remove Entries: You can change colors or remove an entry by clicking the 'X'. Removing an entry will also auto-adjust the remaining sliders to ensure an even distribution.

3.       Adjust Sliders: Once all entries are added, you can fine-tune the sliders to set specific thresholds for each color.

Best Practices:

The widget supports up to 15 thresholds. However, fewer thresholds often result in a cleaner and more readable key under the widget. Experiment with different numbers of thresholds to find the best views for your clients.

Resetting to Default:

If you ever need to start fresh, switching the Map Options setting back to the core option will reset the widget to its default state. This feature is particularly useful for clearing out custom settings and starting over when needed.

Future Plans:

This new custom heat mapping capability is currently available for the Dragon Map widget. Our long-term goal is to extend this functionality to all widgets that utilize heat mapping. Stay tuned for future updates as we continue to enhance our tools to better meet your needs.
